Om prosjektet
The project focuses on transnational artistic creation and circulation (sector-specific funding). Four professional choirs will collaborate in presenting the same festival in each of their home cities. With a total of 20 concerts we expect between 5,000 and 6,000 people to attend. Since it is clear that we must all contribute to cutting down on emissions we have also set out to investigate how, in the face of climate change, professional musicians may still justify touring internationally – and what alternative options we have: 1) The UN Sustainable Development Goals will be embedded in all aspects of the project and when it has been concluded we will carefully evaluate our efforts and make the results available to others. To further stress this priority sustainability will also be part of the artistic planning: We have commissioned a new piece by Galina Grigorjewa which will be performed jointly by the partner ensembles and which is to be set to texts reflecting on various aspects of climate change. The individual programmes of the ensembles will be chosen to support this theme. 2) The new piece will be the cornerstone in a ground breaking collaboration designed to help the ensembles attract more attention both in Europe and worldwide. Normally, to reach local audiences an ensemble must be engaged to perform a live concert but we have designed a way to bypass this: By recording the new piece and producing a high-quality film we will create an artistic product in which each of the ensembles can shine. We will all promote this film to venues where we will perform individually and thus all the ensembles will be able to attract even more attention without having to leave their own countries. Apart from the live audiences and about twice as many watching/listening online we expect to have radio broadcasts both in our own countries and across Europe via the EBU network. For this we esti¬mate that we will have a total of about 200,000 unique listeners.
